French Musicians to Discover

Thursday, August 18, 2011

Bonjour tout la monde! I have been obsessively scouring iTunes, YouTube, and Google over the past week in search of new cool French musicians to get stuck in my head. The results have been pretty great, although it has resulted in very late nights...very late. You see, with an American iTunes account I can only get so far, and since I can no longer listen to French radio during my daily commute, I had to make an effort myself.

Here are some French musicians I am selecting out of my YouTube playlist that you should definitely check out ASAP!

Greg Laffargue kind've has a Jason Mraz feel, happy and laid back.

Sofia Essaidi is so much fun...not to mention super adorable in this video.

Thomas Pradeau is one of those musicians who you instantly love.

Zaz has this amazing soulful voice that is rare these days. This is her doing an impressive cover of an Edith Piaf song, but her original music is definitely worth checking out as well.

Which French musician will be
added to your playlist mes cheris?

Funny Fashion Friday

Friday, July 8, 2011

As much as I love fashion...and I mean REALLY LOOOOVE fashion, sometimes I do catch myself laughing out loud at some of the funny fashion that wind up on the racks or in the glossy spreads..ahem fun fur! I am a big believer in never taking oneself too seriously, life is meant to be enjoyed n'est-ce pas? This is one of the reasons I am a die hard groupie of Miss Leandra and her Man Repeller blog, anyone who has such a stellar sense of humor about fashion and can still embrace it all the more I tip my hat too...and add in a dramatic curtsy!

Today I got a big kick out of Jenine's post on the funny fashion of Gaga boots over at The Coveted!
It picked up my Friday and I wanted to spread the love...so enjoy her attempt at walking in these crazy heels and head on over to her lovely blog and be sure to say hello!

So what is your vote?
Will you be sporting this funny fashion?

Fashion & Science Date

Sunday, September 19, 2010

I found an interesting video over the weekend that intrigued me. This guy has found a scientific breakthrough with fabric that could have major possibilities and still be environmentally friendly. I do believe it is still in the beginning stages and will need to be more pliable before it becomes a mainstream designer handytool but it has some real potential.

What do you think mes cheries?

Creativity

Monday, December 7, 2009

I adore how each person has their own unique form of art to express themselves, and even within one person that media may change many forms. For me, creative expression comes through clothing I make, songs that I write, photos I capture or drawings I create. Lately, I have really enjoyed the many stop motion animation videos that have spread across the internet. Although I am not personally at the skill to create my own, I always draw so much inspiration from them. I love the idea of taking something still and giving it life! Recently I stumbled upon this video by Little Brown Pen.

Little Brown Pen, based out of New Jersey, has a fabulous Etsy shop of paper goods from calenders to gift tags at VERY affordable prices! Check out her shop HERE and her inspiring blog HERE. What is your form of creative expression?

I love this new video for The BPA (a new project by Norman Cook aka Fatboy Slim).
"Toe Jam" has the collaboration of Dizzee Rascal and David Byrne, both providing the vocals for the song.
The video is directed by Keith Schofield.

Stella Artois interactive website

Friday, October 19, 2007

About: The new Stella Artois site is divided into 5 mini games (End of the World, Dangers of the Forrest, Wrath of Gods, Battle of Good vs Evil, The Setting Sun), all of them with fantastically executed motion video content. The website is a bit heavy but certainly worthy of a few minutes of your time.

zZz is playing: Grip

Monday, August 6, 2007

zZz is playing: Grip is a video for the band zZz. Its a one take, top shot videoclip with trampoline gymnasts simulating typical video effects. The video has been recorded live as part of the opening 'Nederclips' at the Stedelijk museum 'S-Hertogenbosch SM'S (curated by Bart Rutten).

The project was commissioned by the TAX-videoclipfonds and an important criteria was that the audience of the opening was be able to witness the whole shoot, another criteria was that it should be added to the exhibition imediately after the shoot was done. So we had no option to reshoot or edit if something went wrong. This made us so focussed that we did better that any of us have could imagined.

Thanks to Edu for the tip.
